A growth audit identifies the small number of issues that most limit acquisition, conversion, retention, or operational efficiency. Use this checklist before increasing spend or commissioning a rebuild.
1. Demand and acquisition
- Which channels produce qualified traffic and revenue?
- Do campaign promises match the landing experience?
- Are organic search pages aligned with clear customer intent?
2. Experience and conversion
- Can visitors understand the offer and next step quickly?
- Are mobile navigation, forms, cart, and checkout easy to complete?
- Are trust, delivery, returns, proof, and pricing questions answered?
3. Measurement
- Are enquiries, add-to-cart, checkout, purchase, and key engagement events recorded?
- Are internal tests, duplicate events, and consent behavior understood?
- Can the team connect reports to decisions?
4. Technology and operations
- Are speed, uptime, integrations, and manual handoffs creating risk?
- Is there a prioritized maintenance and experimentation backlog?
Score each issue by potential impact, evidence, effort, and dependency. The output should be a sequenced 30-, 60-, and 90-day plan rather than an unranked list. For specialist analysis, choose our Conversion Rate Optimization Audit, Analytics Foundation, or SEO Growth Program.
Use evidence, not preference, to rank issues
For every finding, record the affected audience or journey, supporting evidence, estimated commercial impact, confidence level, implementation effort, dependencies, and measurement plan. This prevents a visually noticeable issue from outranking a less obvious problem that affects more customers or revenue.
Build a reliable measurement layer
Confirm which events represent meaningful progress: qualified form submission, product view, add to cart, checkout start, purchase, repeat order, subscription, or booked consultation. Check event names, parameters, currency, duplicate firing, cross-domain behavior, consent, internal traffic, and referral exclusions. Reports are useful only when the team trusts the definitions behind them.
Turn findings into a 90-day roadmap
- First 30 days: repair broken tracking, critical mobile friction, indexation problems, and high-risk operational failures.
- Days 31–60: improve priority landing pages, product or service content, navigation, forms, and lifecycle messages.
- Days 61–90: run controlled experiments, expand winning content, and automate repeatable reporting or follow-up.
Assign an owner and a success metric to every initiative. Review progress weekly and close work only after the expected behavior is verified in production.
